Sitemaps and how search engines find your pages

What Delrity provides today, and why a single-page site is fine without one.

Search engines find pages in two ways: by following links, and by reading a sitemap file that lists them. Here is exactly what your published site provides.

What your site provides

  • A robots file that invites search engines to crawl every page of your site.
  • A canonical address on every page, so a site on two addresses is indexed as one.
  • Links from your home page to every other page - your shop, your products, your cart.

About sitemaps

Published customer sites do not include a sitemap file in this version of Delrity. In practice that costs you very little: a Delrity site is one page plus, on a store, its shop and product pages, and every one of those is reachable by following links from the home page. That is how search engines find them.

If you want to be sure

  1. 1Add your website address to Google Search Console.
  2. 2Verify ownership using the DNS or HTML tag method it offers.
  3. 3Use the URL Inspection tool to request indexing of your home page.
Tip: Search Console is free and it is the only way to see what Google actually thinks of your site rather than guessing. It is worth the fifteen minutes.
