Your title and description
Exactly which of your content becomes your search-engine listing.
Your search-engine listing is the title and the grey line of text underneath it. In Delrity these are not separate fields you fill in - they are derived from content you have already written, so there is nothing to keep in sync.
Your title
Your title is your business name, exactly as you typed it in the editor. It is also your browser tab, your social card heading and your footer wordmark. Change it in one place and all of them update.
Your description
Your description is taken from the first of these that has content, trimmed to a search-friendly length:
- Your hero subtitle - the line underneath your main headline.
- Your about text, if the hero subtitle is empty.
- Your footer tagline, if both of those are empty.
So the practical way to control your description is to write a good hero subtitle. One clear sentence saying what you do and who for is exactly right. Search engines show about 160 characters, so longer text is trimmed at a word boundary.
A section that is switched off is skipped. If you hide your hero, its subtitle no longer feeds your description, and Delrity falls back to the next one in the list.
