Troubleshooting

My site is not showing up on Google

Whether it is a problem yet, and what to do if it is.

First - how long has it been?

Being indexed takes days to weeks after publishing, and longer on a brand-new domain. If you published this week, nothing is wrong.

Check it is actually reachable

  • The site is published, not a draft.
  • It loads for you in a private browser window.
  • Your trial or subscription is active - an offline site cannot be indexed.

Check what you are searching for

Search for your exact web address rather than your business name. If the address returns your site, you are indexed and the question is ranking, not indexing - and ranking for a common business name takes time and content.

Give search engines something to rank

  • Name your town or region on the page.
  • Describe your services specifically, in the words a customer would type.
  • Complete your contact section.
  • Create a free Google Business Profile - for a local business it often matters more than the site.
  • Add your address to Google Search Console and request indexing of your home page.
Tip: Published customer sites do not include a sitemap file in this version. It is not the reason you are not ranking - your pages are all reachable by links from your home page, which is how they are found.
