Connect a custom domain

Point a domain you own, like yourbusiness.co.za, at your website.

You can connect a domain you own so your website lives at your own web address. Custom domains are available on a paid Professional or Business plan.

Before you start

  • You need to already own the domain. Delrity is not a registrar - buy it from any registrar you like.
  • You need to be able to sign in wherever your domain's DNS is managed.
  • You need a paid Professional or Business subscription. Custom domains are not available on Starter, and not during the free trial.

Connecting it

  1. 1Open your website and go to Domains.
  2. 2Enter your domain name and choose "Connect".
  3. 3Copy the DNS records Delrity shows you.
  4. 4Add those records at your domain provider, exactly as shown.
  5. 5Come back to Delrity and choose "Verify". While the page is open, Delrity also re-checks by itself every few seconds for about ten minutes.
  6. 6Once it is verified, choose "Make primary" so it becomes your main address.

Enter the exact address you want visitors to use. The root version (yourbusiness.co.za) and www version (www.yourbusiness.co.za) are separate choices; Delrity connects only the one you enter and does not automatically redirect the other. If you connect both, the one that is not primary redirects to the one that is.

Custom domains on published websites are re-checked once a day. If your DNS records are later removed or changed, the domain stops being verified and your site stops loading on it until the records are put back. Your Delrity address keeps working throughout. The same daily check also brings a domain live on its own if you fixed your DNS and never came back to press Verify.

Removing a custom domain

Use the delete icon beside the domain and confirm. Your website falls back to its Delrity address automatically, and nothing is lost. Your DNS records at your registrar are never changed by us - remove them yourself if you no longer want them.

Tip: Your domain remains entirely yours. Delrity only reads it to confirm it points at us; we never take control of it and you can move it away at any time.
