Selling online
Add and manage products
Create products, set prices and stock, and control what is visible.
Products are managed under Commerce on the website that has your store.
Adding a product
- 1Go to Commerce, then Products.
- 2Choose "New product".
- 3Fill in the name, description and price.
- 4Optionally choose a category.
- 5Under Inventory, leave Track inventory ticked and enter your opening stock quantity, or untick it if you do not count stock.
- 6Upload a product image.
- 7Set the status to Active when you are ready for it to be sold, then save.
The fields explained
- Price - in Rand. This is the price customers are charged, and it is always re-checked on our servers at checkout.
- Compare-at price - optional, and it must be higher than the price. Shown struck through beside your price, for a genuine sale. Do not use it to invent a discount.
- Track inventory - when ticked, Delrity counts stock for this product and stops sales at zero. When unticked, the product can always be bought.
- Stock quantity - your opening count. Once a product is tracked, you change its stock from the Inventory page so that every change is recorded (see Track your inventory).
- Low-stock threshold - the level at which customers see the product as low stock.
- SKU - optional, your own reference. It must be unique within the website.
- Status - Draft is invisible to customers, Active is on sale, Archived is retired without being deleted.
Categories
Choose Manage categories on the Products page to create categories, then give each product one category. Categories help you organise your catalogue in the dashboard. They do not change how your shop looks to customers in this version.
Products with options
Product variants are not supported in this version. If you sell a shirt in three sizes, create three products - each with its own price and its own stock.
Tip: Deleting a product never damages your order history. Past orders keep a snapshot of the name and price at the time they were placed, so what a customer paid can never change retrospectively.
